Methodist Episcopal Church newspaper articles at the time it was built
In 1844, long before the settlement of Oklahoma, the question of abolition and slavery had split the Methodist Episcopal Church into the Methodist Episcopal, South and the Methodist Episcopal. Conference journals indicate pastoral assignments for both Moore congregations as early as 1890. Within a few years after the town was settled, four religious congregations emerged: Methodist Episcopal, South, (ME, South); Methodist Episcopal (ME); United Brethren; and Baptist.
